Kin, kin-db, the filesystem projection, and the editor extension are open source under the Apache License 2.0. That license, shipped in each repository, is the whole of your rights to the code. You can read it, run it, fork it, and build on it on those terms, and nothing on this page narrows them.

These terms cover two other things: this website, and the hosted KinLab service. The hosted service and its source are proprietary. Reuse beyond what copyright already permits needs written permission, which you can request at troy@kinlab.ai.

Each repository carries a NOTICE file listing the third-party components it includes and their licenses. Read those alongside the code at github.com/firelock-ai/kin.

This site is documentation and product information. It is provided as it is, and we make no promise that it stays available, that every page is current, or that anything described here will ship in the shape described. Copy changes as the product does.

Figures and results on this site come with their method where they appear. Read them against that method rather than as a guarantee about your own repository.

KinLab is in development. Hosted collaboration, member administration, and publish actions are available only to approved accounts and organizations. We can change, suspend, or withdraw access, and we can change what the service does, while it is in development.

Do not rely on early-access features for production-critical workflows unless you have a written agreement covering that use. Review output is advisory. It reports what Kin found; it does not approve a change, and it is not a substitute for your own review.

Use the product only with repositories, organizations, and data you are authorized to access. You are responsible for what you connect and for the rights you hold in it.

Do not attempt to bypass collaboration, access, billing, rate, or safety controls exposed through the hosted or local Kin surfaces, and do not use the hosted service to break the law or to disrupt it for other users.

If you find a security issue, report it to troy@kinlab.ai rather than exercising it against other users' data.

You keep every right you already had in the code and content you connect to KinLab. Using the hosted service grants us only what we need to operate it for you: to store, process, and display that content back to you and to the people you have given access.

You can stop using either product at any time, and you can ask us to close a hosted account by writing to troy@kinlab.ai. We can end access to the hosted service if these terms are broken. The open-source license is not affected either way; nothing we do to a hosted account takes away rights the Apache-2.0 license already gave you.

The hosted service is provided on an "as is" basis, without warranties or conditions of any kind, either express or implied. We do not promise a specific level of availability, and we do not promise that results are complete or correct for your repository. This matches how the Apache-2.0 license already treats the code.

To the extent the law allows, Firelock is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or the hosted service. Some jurisdictions do not allow those limits, in which case they apply only as far as they legally can.

We update this page as the product changes, and the date at the top is the date of the current version. Continuing to use the site or the hosted service after an update means the updated terms apply. Where a separate written agreement exists, that agreement controls over this page.
